What is buymeahouse.com about?

This website is about raising money to buy a house. That's right, I am raising money to buy my own property in the UK. Why? Because I don't have a hope in hell in getting on the property ladder. What's worse, I'm in debt, so I'm not only not ever going to live in my own property, I'll probably end up renting for the rest of my life.

How does this work?

What is my aim?

My aim is to generate £500,000 before closing the site to new advertisers. Current plans are to run the website for 5 years. Money raised will also go towards running this website.

Why are you doing this?

I cant buy a property for myself at the moment for several reasons ranging from not earning enough to being a home husband looking after my child as my wife earned more than me.

If I went for the highest paying job I can get, I'd spend 50% on rent, 20% on nursery, 20% looking after parents with 10% disposable income. With that 10%, it would take me 10 years to pay off my debts, 7 years to repair my credit history, 15 years to save up for a deposit (not taking into account rising house prices). So it will take over 32 years to buy a house, without spending money on myself. I'll be a ripe old age of 63 before I have a chance of buying my own property.

What are you going to do with the money?

Buy a house of course. I'll be living there with my wife, child and disabled parents. Hopefully I can have the house kitted out to make my parents life easier, they worked way too hard all their life and never complained, I got to take care of them now! I'll also pay off my debts. I've learned a lot, I don't want this to happen again!

I'll put a shortlist of houses I like on this website including video tours, when I am ready to buy I'll be letting this websites visitors vote on the house I should buy.

Who are you?

I am B Kalia a 31 yr old male and I live in West London, UK, which is directly under the flight path at Heathrow. My family don't know I'm doing this so I will be a little coy until its time to let the cat out of the bag. Don't worry, there will be lots of video in my blog with subtle hints and the odd cameo. I'm not trying to hide my identity, anyone in the know can find out who I am in a matter of seconds, for the rest of you... you'll see me when I start house hunting.... look out for the video of me on my first day!
